Modern-AU-verse
Jan. 2nd, 2010 09:05 pmIt was much, much more than a hundred years later when Katara and Sokka found Aang. Now, with a world that has mostly forgotten bending and the spirits, the balance isn't just broken- it's been totally erased.
As of 04-23-12, I have posted all that I intend to for this fic. It was an interesting experiment, and I got over 40,000 words out of it (most of which are posted here- some bits weren't good enough to bother with). The story isn't complete, but I feel like it ends on a good note here. The rest of what I had planned parallels canon closely enough that I didn't want to bother writing it.

The Fire Nation took over the world, but they were long ago replaced by a semi-democratic government when the last of the royal family with bending died off. The rest of the family faded into obscurity.
The wars killed off most of the world, so the population of the planet is way less than modern earth but still more than in the canon 'verse. (In other words, there are still large swathes of land that are wild and unoccupied). The animals are still Avatar-verse hybrids, but the technology is much the same as on present-day Earth.

And now for something completely different
Jan. 2nd, 2010 07:19 pmSo I've been working on this fic, with the premise that it was much more than 100 years between the time Aang was frozen and the time Katara and Sokka found him. So we have the same characters, and there's still bending, but the level of technology is at the level of present-day Earth.
And... I was doing it because I was procrastinating on my other stuff, but now it's 12000 words long and I think I'd better start posting it or I'll start losing momentum.
BUT: It is written in totally random snippets, which are not in chronological order. I'm talking 25 separate drabbles or oneshots so far. I don't think I want to post them together, but posting them all separately would result in massive spamming.
Thus... I am going to follow the format of some memes I've seen, and put the drabble-length snippets in the comments of this post. Then I'll make another post where I figure out what order everything should go in and archive it.
Confused? So am I. But I'm going to try it anyway.
