How I Know that Humidities Major was Abducted by Aliens :D

The events I am about to recount to you are true in their entirety. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Two dear friends of mine, B------ and H------, had been engaged in a most felicitous relationship for the past twelve months when H----- decided to break off the relationship. In of itself this event was not at all peculiar, but in the details there arose several oddities in H------'s behaviour.

To wit: He behaved in a most strange manner, calling upon B------ every four or five hours to tell her that he was breaking the whole thing off, or that he was still under love's spell and could not let her go. He could not articulate the reasons for these actions- or rather, he gave reasons, but never the same two in a row, and to different individuals, he expressed regret or gladness or both. In short, it was completely impossible to determine his motivations or his intentions, and everyone that spoke to him was filled with confusion.

However, in the end the relationship was indeed ended, and if it had not been for the circle of friends the two shared, the whole thing might have ended there. However, each was forced to endure the other's company at social events every week or so, and so word spread that H------ was still behaving most strangely. He no longer called upon other friends, and refused to receive them even when they knocked on the door of his bedroom- sometimes going as far as to turn off all the lights and pretend he was not home, or to cross to the other side of the rode if he encountered a friend while on a stroll. He was often gone in truth as well as fiction; suddenly he was spending a great deal of time with new friends. When he did talk to his former acquaintances, he wore a strange half-smile, and his reasoning was as opaque as ever. He claimed to be upset, but the half-smile never left his countenance.

In short, he avoided all of the individuals that had come to know him well, and took his strange half-smile to places where no one would notice how peculiar his behaviour was, when taken against his previous actions. As for myself, I found his behaviour most erratic, when I did see him, and every mutual acquaintance I spoke with agreed.

 

At this point in this tale, it would be fitting to mention strange lights in the sky, or strange happenings, but the sky at night is already so filled with light from the nearby city of ------------- that it is quite impossible to see any lights, and as for strange happenings, I confess that in this modern day and age such things are so commonplace that they scarce make their way into the paper.  I have no further evidence to support my claims, so I might be taken as a madwoman, except that there is no other possible explanation for this bout of strangeness.

It is clear that H----- was taken from this planet and his countenance somehow replicated on the face of another creature, something otherworldly and inhuman, which has tried to take his place but cannot yet fully grasp the full range of human expression and the intricacies of interacting.

I can only pray that no one else might be replaced.
