1.) Mini nuclear plants
Safe, cheap nuclear power in the next few years.
2.) Obama looks likely to reverse many Bush actions.
Stem cells and environmental regulation FTW!
3.) A cure for AIDS
Not practical, not safe (30% mortality rate looks more like a problem than a cure...), but it works. In essence: find someone who is immune to AIDS. Transplant some of their marrow to an AIDS patient. Voila! Immune white blood cells kill AIDS. Patient is AIDS free.
Problems: Did I mention that the transplant can kill you? Also: so impractical.
But we're getting there.
In my roommate's words: "Some day we're going to go 'Wait? People used to die from AIDS? WTF?' like we do now for colds."
