So. After two years of full vegetarianism and about seven before that of only eating chicken, I finally looked into nutrition stuff that I had ignored before. Maybe I should have done this a long time ago.
Arr.
Also, school has resumed again after winter break, and I am procrastinating my homework by updating my lj! Yay? Oh well- I'll be up until two anyway, since my sleep schedule is so messed up still from break.
*Takes a sip of pepsi*
Really, it has nothing to do with the caffeine. That's only to ward off migraines! Which is a perfectly valid way to avoid them, really... I'm not addicted to caffeine!
*completely in denial*
sigh...

So. There are several vitamins and minerals I've been missing out on. Iron, for one. I thought I was getting enough from supplements, but it turns out the ones I've been taking for the past year don't actually have any iron in them. Oops. And also, the food I've been eating has about... well, no iron in it. Except the spinach I binge on every month or so- but that has only 30% daily value in it, and the package claims that a serving is as big as my head. Even on a major spinach day, I eat maybe a third of that, and nothing else.
Arr.
Also, everything I love to eat apparently interferes with iron absorption- tea, coffee, chocolate, gum. Considering that I have about three cups of tea a day and large amounts of chocolate...
No wonder I've been feeling a bit dizzy.
Not to mention the zinc and calcium that I've never worried about in my life. I don't plan to start now- at least, not too much. Except that the sites I've been looking at seem to say that there are Dire Consequences if you don't get enough of them...
Arr.
Now, the question remains: Is it worth trying to change my diet, or should I just rely on new vitamin pills with most of the stuff I need in them?
Mer. Arr.
Okay, that's enough ranting for today.
